We recently celebrated Cameron, one of our newest Be Able Housing graduates!

Cameron was one of the first four men to help launch our housing program. From the beginning, he made the most of the opportunity… holding down full-time employment, following through with goals and putting in the work.

Chad said there are a few men who truly take full advantage of the program. Cameron is one of them. But one of the things we appreciate most about Cameron is his PATIENCE.

When we launched Be Able Housing, we had done a lot of preparation. But preparation was only the beginning. Over the past year, we’ve learned by doing. We tried, talked, changed, and tried again.

Cameron even joked that the Be Able Homie Handbook changed several times while he was here! Through all of it, he gave us the benefit of the doubt and helped us grow as the program grew.

We’re proud of you, Cameron. You’ve helped shape this program, and we have no doubt you’re on a solid path forward.

Scott and Mia spent one of their mornings on the GMCF Community Hour, sharing about the newly launched Be Able Works Academy.

The Academy is designed to help individuals prepare for and succeed in the workforce… not just getting a job, but growing toward long term stability.

Mia shared something we believe deeply:

“Everyone can grow more into their potential. No matter who they are, no matter what they’ve been through.”

Adversity can make it easy for someone to only see their mistakes, setbacks, or weaknesses. But every person has strengths!

And sometimes the same perseverance that helped someone survive hard things can also help them take the next step forward.

We’re grateful for Mia’s leadership, excited for the Academy, and thankful for the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation team and all they do for Be Able and our entire community.

MORE THAN AN ID… A passport to a new beginning.

The Mobile DMV will be at Be Able on Monday, October 19th and Monday, November 23rd from 9:00am–2:30pm.

For many of our neighbors, an ID is more than a card. It can be the first step toward employment, housing, stability, and opportunity.

If you need DMV services, this is a great opportunity to take care of it right here in the community.

With much excitement, we have launched our Academy and the opportunity to invest in our neighbors through workforce readiness education, mentoring, and support.

Lasting progress doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when we invest in people.
