A MESSAGE FROM SCOTT:
We are thrilled to announce the official launch of our supportive housing program this past month! This is just the beginning, as we finish up renovations on the other two properties over the next two months. We are committed to starting strong with the goal of making a lasting difference in the lives of our community members. Our focus is not only on providing housing but also on offering the necessary support to ensure long-term success for every individual we serve. Our team at Be Able consisting of our volunteers, board, staff, and community members, have been hard at work over the past 15 months to make this vision a reality. I want to pull back the curtain to show you the depth of this initiative. Keep scrolling!

Program Structure: Be Able’s supportive housing program spans three properties, offering nine units and fourteen bedrooms. Currently, the program is designed to provide a safe, sober living environment. These homes are more than just a roof over someone's head—they offer a foundation for rebuilding lives.
From the Street to Stability: Be Able’s supportive housing program currently serves men, with our first residents having already been welcomed into their new homes. These properties can house over 24 individuals, offering a crucial step from homelessness to stability. While our current focus is on men, we have a vision for the future to develop a separate location dedicated to supporting women in need, further expanding our impact on the community.
The Highest Standard: Our program is based on the National Alliance of Recovery Residences (NARR) standard, a nationally recognized framework for sober-living housing. We are actively seeking NARR accreditation to further validate our commitment to providing the best possible environment for our residents.
Our Leadership: Chad Wormstadt, our dedicated Housing Director, leads the program with a deep passion and personal commitment. With his experience in both transitional housing and his own journey of rebuilding his life post-incarceration, Chad brings invaluable knowledge and insight to our program. His leadership and the efforts of our volunteer housing team ensure that our residents are guided with care and accountability.
Personalized Goals and Team Support: Each resident develops personal goals in areas such as employment, mental health, addiction recovery, and housing stability. We recognize that success requires a team effort. Residents are supported by their housing director, a Be Able case manager, and a volunteer mentor/sponsor who provides ongoing encouragement and accountability. This comprehensive support system is key to their success.
Application Process: We have a thorough and thoughtful selection process to ensure our program is the right fit for those who need it most. Interested individuals complete an online application at beablecommunity.com/housing, followed by a personal interview to assess their commitment to the program and ensure they are ready to make meaningful progress.
Tools for Recovery: To enhance accountability and goal tracking, Be Able has invested in One Step Software. This app helps residents track their goals, check in for curfew, and stay connected with their case manager and mentor. It’s an essential tool for ensuring that residents stay on track and continue progressing in their recovery journey.
A Heartfelt Thank You: We want to extend our deepest thanks to our incredible community for making this program possible. A special thank you to the late Phil Howe (upper right) for his generous contribution of the three properties, to the Caroline Peine Foundation and Marvin Robinson Trust for their financial support toward renovations, and to Nate Holloman (lower left) from Frontier Development Group, who is overseeing the renovation project at no cost, saving us tens of thousands of dollars. Your support is invaluable, and together, we are making a real impact.
Transforming Houses into Homes: We want to acknowledge the incredible effort of Jacqui & Shane Good, Sarah Jones, Christine McNutt, Dana Burmeister and Connie McClatchey, whose time, dedication, and financial contributions have transformed these houses into true homes. We want to express our appreciation to those individuals who have generously donated furniture as well as Thermal Comfort Air for their efforts to install dishwashers, ranges and security cameras. The hard work and commitment of our community have played a crucial role in creating a welcoming, comfortable space for our residents. Thank you for making a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve!
