Every milestone at Be Able tells a story… not just of recovery, but of people choosing hope, community, and forward movement.
Recently, we’ve had the privilege of celebrating several powerful moments from our transitional housing program — reminders that transformation often happens quietly, through steady commitment and supportive relationships.
Ricardo’s graduation reminded us what leadership truly looks like. He became a peer mentor within the house, encouraging others while continuing his own journey of growth. As he shared at graduation, he learned something many of us spend a lifetime discovering: his worth. Ricardo leaves the program reunited with family and carrying forward the same humility and strength that impacted everyone around him.
Greg’s victory came in a different form… ringing the bell to mark the completion of cancer treatment after a long and exhausting fight. His perseverance was remarkable, but equally powerful was the community surrounding him. Volunteers walked alongside him with rides, meals, encouragement, and lived understanding — a picture of how no one is meant to face life’s hardest battles alone.
And then there’s Shaq, whose success reflects the everyday faithfulness that defines so many recovery journeys. He showed up, maintained employment, built healthy relationships, and followed through on a plan created alongside a mentor who walked closely with him each step of the way. As he reunites with family and begins his next chapter, his story reminds us that lasting change is often built one consistent day at a time.
These stories may look different, but they share a common thread: progress happens in community. Whether overcoming addiction, rebuilding relationships, or walking through serious illness, healing takes people showing up for one another.
Thank you for being part of the Be Able community — because stories like these are only possible when people choose to walk alongside others.
