When the Kansas Department of Revenue Mobile DMV pulls into our parking lot, it may look like a simple service day.
For our neighbors, it’s a turning point.
For most of us, replacing an ID is an errand. For someone navigating homelessness, re-entry, or instability, it can be an overwhelming barrier.
Without an ID, you can’t apply for most jobs, complete hiring paperwork, sign a lease, open a bank account, access certain benefits, or even pick up prescriptions. Opportunities stall before they begin.
That’s why these days matter.
When we have these small wins like getting a new ID – even if it's a temporary one – it means momentum. It means opportunity is ahead. It means stability is getting closer. This is a big deal.
On one recent visit, 24 neighbors walked away with more than a piece of paper. They walked away with confidence, dignity, and real opportunity.
Small wins may not look dramatic… but in our community, they are the foundation for lasting change.
Sometimes, one card changes everything.
