Friends of Be Able,
As we step into 2026, I can’t help but pause and reflect on what an incredible year 2025 was for Be Able. Much of that momentum centered on our housing program. We hired Chad as our Housing Director early in the year, launched our first housing residents in May, and went on to open our second and third homes… bringing us to the ability to house 24 men in safe, sober-living transitional housing. In October, we celebrated our very first housing graduate, a powerful reminder of what’s possible when accountability and love for our neighbors come together.
Looking ahead to 2026, we are filled with excitement. In February, we’ll complete the development of our Phase 2 renovation plans with BG Consultants. Beginning in March, we’ll actively pursue funding with the hope of starting construction this summer. These renovations will allow us to take the next step forward by adding three critical improvements: a dedicated space for the future Be Able Academy focused on workforce readiness, shared office space for staff and community partners to have confidential conversations with neighbors, and much-needed outdoor site improvements including parking, drainage, and overall curb appeal.
None of this momentum is possible apart from God’s continued blessing, which He so often provides through the generosity of people like you. Your faithfulness and willingness to invest in this work allow Be Able to move forward with confidence and hope. As we begin 2026, I am so grateful… not only for what we’ve accomplished, but for the clear evidence that God is at work, using this community to help change lives. |
Some give their time. Teri gives dignity. Every week, she comes to Be Able with her scissors, her skill, and her heart… offering far more than a haircut.
A fresh cut means confidence. It means feeling clean and seen. It helps neighbors walk into jobs, appointments, and new opportunities with their head held high.
Teri pays attention to the people who might otherwise be overlooked. And that kind of care changes everything.
We’re grateful for her and for every volunteer at Be Able who chooses to make our community stronger! |
Small Routines, Big Impact |
Every Friday, like clockwork, Don walks through our doors with a food delivery from Stonecreek Family Physicians LLP… And every Friday, our community feels the impact of that kindness.
His consistency helps us keep us stocked and our neighbors supported, especially on the weeks when need is high.
We’re grateful for Don’s heart and for Stone Creek’s continued generosity. Small routines like this make a huge difference. |
We were recently surprised (and deeply encouraged) by a visit from Nathan, one of the very first neighbors who came through Be Able five years ago.
Nathan stopped in while passing through town to visit family and found himself standing in front of our "Wall of Achievement"… a wall filled with names and moments that mattered. Under his name, written years ago, were two simple words: “New Job” and “New Home.” Yesterday, Marlon, Scott, and Nathan stood together pointing at those words which represented a turning point in Nathan's life.
Nathan caught us up on life: he’s healthy, pursuing work in commercial fishing, supporting Be Able when he’s able, and carrying a heart for serving others experiencing homelessness… he's sharing his faith, love, and encouragement wherever he goes.
One thing he said stuck with us: “The biggest thing Be Able represents is family. Stopping in here is like saying, ‘It’s Christmas… let’s go see grandma.’”
Visits like this remind us why we do what we do. We love when people come back… not just to look at where they were, but to share who they’ve become! |
We're grateful that Scott was invited to share the vision of Be Able and how important this is to our community.
